Serviço social e cuidados paliativos: estratégias de acolhimento a pacientes oncológicos

Abstract

This work, which has as its theme Social Service and Palliative Care: welcoming strategies for cancer patients, aims to understand the intervention of Social Workers in the face of Palliative Care directed to cancer patients, relating Palliative Care to the principle of human dignity, with the principle of humanization of SUS and according to the legal apparatus of the professional category. As well as identifying the possibilities and limits for the professional intervention of Social Workers in Palliative Care in oncology. And also present strategies for the professional intervention of Social Workers. And with the intention of presenting results through bibliographical and documentary research, of an exploratory nature and based on the critical historical framework. Data collection was carried out through digital sources due to the Covid-19 pandemic still in force, at first access to bibliographic sources took place via databases and scientific digital platforms in which we selected scientific articles, e-books, and TCC from area. Then a more specific digital search on academic data platforms and later by physical sources. The collection of documentary data was also complemented with data recorded in a field diary during the monitoring of professional actions by social workers in care and observation, as well as the data recorded during our mandatory curricular internship period, which were important in apprehending the point point of view of these cancer patients and about the subject. The objective of the research is to understand this form of care inherent to Palliative Care, as well as the performance and challenges of Social Work in this field of work and possible strategies in this form of care, since it is a topic that is rarely addressed. Social work in the field of palliative care is based on human and social rights set out in the Federal Constitution of 1988. In the context of palliative care and the consequences of changes in everyday life. As a result of the evolution of cancer, many patients experience situations of intense vulnerability. And considering the Brazilian reality, it is necessary to deepen studies that deal with palliative care and human finitude, bringing to the debate guidelines and an effective and critical action on this complex, sensitive and still under construction theme. as recommended by the legislation, but we can say that the HU has been making great advances for professionals and particularly for social work. Finally, this work brings, among other reflections, the need for further studies on the subject.
