Notas sobre a Igreja Batista de Delmiro Gouveia (1975-2020)

Abstract

This research presents a brief history of religiosity in the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, from the foundation of the Baptist Church in Delmiro Gouveia, pointing out its possible contribution to the religious formation of the population of that municipality. The need for studies on this theme is due to the fact that it is a fertile ground for research in several areas, as the city and the emblematic figure of its founder arouses scientific, economic, social and academic interest, however, the religious issue is still it is a subject with little visibility and practically no contribution from the academy regarding the religious formation of the inhabitants of that city. The research stages involved theoretical discussions, collection of bibliographic data, visits to the research site, data collection through a questionnaire and detailed observation of the historical collection of the Baptist Church of Delmiro Gouveia. As for the methodology, our research will assume a descriptive and bibliographic character from the references on the history of Protestantism in Brazil in Silva (2011), Rosa (2005), and the Alagoas Baptists in Prado (2008) and Geier (2012). We also used data collection through interviews, with an emphasis on oral history; thus revealing the point of view of individuals who know the history of a privileged place, that of those who saw and lived history, and who enabled us to access the speeches of characters linked to the trajectory of the Baptist Church in this city, from its foundation to the current days.
