Projeto performativo do “ser mulher” em revistas femininas

Abstract

Patriarchal and heteronormative culture has been disseminated in the society in which we live, presenting constructions and forms of identity considered acceptable. In this sense, it is important to understand how such constructions are made and that profiles of people are neither considered valid nor acceptable. For this, the theoretical framework is based on feminist and queer studies of language, gender and sexuality, based on the concept of performativity. Thus, based on Queer Linguistics, we propose to describe and interpret the uses of language, establishing the relationships between social and linguistic contexts in women's magazine analysis. The main objective is to interpret how utterances and their linguistic-discursive uses contribute to the construction of the female gender. About this, this study aimed to analyze what it is to be a woman and what is the condition of feminine and feminism performatized in magazines, to understand, from the problematization of the discourses used, the construction of identities of what it is to be a woman. As methodology for analysis, we used the reading of the performative act, based on the queer perspectives and the enunciative-discourse reading. The work is inserted in the area of Queer Linguistics, which has as its object of study the relation language, subject, identity and meaning, and is relevant in order to understand how the construction of people from the uses of language happens. We take as theoretical foundation authors such as Butler (2017 [1990]), Falci (2013), Finegan (1997), Lívia and Hall (2010 [1997]), Louro (2008), McBeth (2000), Santos Filho (2012; 2015; 2016; 2017), among others. The research revealed that the performative project presented by the magazines Marie Clarie and Claudia are common, considering that the citations and the linguistic resources used in the speeches. Thus, the analysis interpreted that the same discourses are repeated in the women's magazines analyzed, and these discourses are heteronormative and patriarchal, which place as valid subjects that conform to binary gender norms. Therefore, we understand that this is a discourse of power and reaffirms a pre-established condition of the female gender, acceptable by heteronormative culture. Thus, other (non-biological) ways of being a woman are not considered.
