São utilizados dados do sensor MODIS, adquiridos no Level I and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System (LAADS) e dados da TSM (observações in situ) obtidos por boias da rede PIRATA.
Abstract: The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) is extremely important for the interaction processes between the ocean and atmosphere because atmospheric dynamics is influenced by variations in SST. This study aims to estimate and map the SST using MODIS/Aqua images and operational atmospheric correction algorithm Nonlinear Sea Surface Temperature (NLSST), to the coast of the state of Alagoas. The study area belongs to the western region of the South Atlantic Ocean, covering the coastline of Alagoas and has an area of approximately 122.430 km2. MODIS were use, acquired in Level I and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System (LAADS) and SST data (in situ observations) obtained by buoys PIRATA network. The MODIS/Aqua images correspond to the satellite pass over the study area, on November 2, 2007, January 6, 2008, January 30, 2009, November 2, 2010 and November 16, 2011, regarding the h14v09 tile. After processing, the MODIS/Aqua images, was determined brightness temperature of 31 to 32 band of MODIS and subsequently was estimated the TSM through the split-window method NLSST. Was tested by analysis of statistical parameters the relationship between the brightness temperature of the band 31 and TSM estimated by the algorithm NLSST MODIS/Aqua together. The results showed, in some scenes MODIS/Aqua, correlation coefficients (r) between the brightness temperature and SST, positive and perfect and that in the MODIS/Aqua is suitable for mapping and estimating the SST off the coast of Alagoas. The estimate of the SST, through the algorithm NLSST, was done in two ways. First, the TSM was estimated using the calibration coefficients the algorithm derived from radiosonde and, subsequently, the TSM was estimated using the calibration coefficients the algorithm derived from the model. For the validation of SST data obtained by satellite we used data from TSM (in situ) obtained by buoys network PIRATA. The validation of satellite data consist of a 3x3 pixel window centered on the position of the buoy, where the validation proceeded comparison between to the data in situ with the pixel hotter, with the pixel cooler, with the central pixel and the average of the pixels in the window 3x3 pixels. The SST estimated with calibration coefficients algorithm derived from the model, when compared to the data in situ, with the hottest pixel and the central pixel in the window 3x3 pixels produces better results in the validation data. The correlation coefficient (r) found between the SST observed and SST estimated with both calibration coefficients of the algorithm, were 0,60 to 0,83 for the pixel in the hottest in the window 3x3 pixel, in the (r) found, for the central pixel in the window 3x3 pixels, was 0,62 to 0,85. The values of SST obtained by satellite are slightly lower than the values obtained by the SST buoys network PIRATA. Probably this is due to the fact that the data used in the SST are located in a region with great presence of meanders and eddies, and also the fact that the atmospheric correction used to be best suited to the Northern Hemisphere, because it has a higher concentration of buoys to measure data.
