Sertão em outdoor: discurso político e relações de poder

Abstract

The language (gem) since antiquity has been studied from different perspectives. The conception of language (gem) that we follow to carry out our study is that of the language defended by the Russian philosopher Mikhail Bakhtin, who proposes for the study of language (gem) the study of concrete enunciation, treating the language as living, as a construct. . From this perspective of language (gem), we analyzed two political speeches about the backcountry canal, placed on the fringes of BR 423 on the occasion of the visit of President Dilma Rousseff at the inauguration of the first stretch of the Northeastern Sertão Canal, on the eve of election year for president. In this socio-historical context, this region is still discursively constructed as a region desolate by drought. The research area we follow is Applied Linguistics from an indisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective. It is a research that follows the postulates of the interpretive paradigm. It is a social discursive study. We questioned which conceptions of Sertão / sertanejo are present in these discourses, aiming to understand with which previous discourses dialogue and which answers await. Thus, we understand in the analyzes that Sertão continues to be discursively built as a dry region, with low productivity and that the sertanejo is built as a subject suffered by drought. We also understand that these discourses dialogue with previous discourses that circulate in and about the Sertão in various spheres of human activity, and that build this region as desolate by drought, following a deterministic discursive matrix. These speeches were built for the sake of interest, government investment and do not match the reality, because this region has modernized. Our study allowed us to build knowledge about the construction of the Sertão and the sertanejo throughout the history of this region, generating the understanding that the speeches are made according to the intentions of the subjects. It also made it possible to understand how important and necessary the reframing of the discourses circulating in / about the Northeastern Sertão. For this study we based on researchers such as Albuquerque Jr (1998; 2011; 2013; 2014), Bakhtin (2006; 2011), Bortoni-Ricardo (2008), Macêdo (2011) Moita Lopes (2006; 2013), Rojo (2006) and Santos Filho (2012; 2012b), among others.
