Abstract

This Course Completion Academic Work (CCAW) was based on the concerns arising from the observation directed towards health work and the integration of teaching, health service and community during the development of work praxis in a Teaching Care Unit linked to the Federal University of Alagoas, in the preceptorship of the Medicine course at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Alagoas. We directed our interest towards investigating the contribution of Community Health Agents (CHA) in the training process of medical students, in view of the proximity of these professionals to the community and their role in mediating between technical and popular knowledge through practice. of popular health education. The general objective of the study was to analyze the actions developed by the CHA in the training process of medical students and as specific objectives, to identify the actions developed by these professionals with medical students and to describe their contributions in the training process of the students. It was an exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. The chosen technique was the conversation wheel, carried out with nine community health agents from a Teaching Assistance Unit (TAU). The analysis of the speeches resulted in the definition of three categories: 1. Activities developed by community health agents for student training; 2. Feelings of appreciation, belonging and contribution to training; 3. Absence of integrated planning between education and health services with the participation of community health agents. When reflecting on the results, the absence of the CHA was evidenced in moments that precede the medical students' trip to the TAU and to the community, under the responsibility of this Unit, which can serve as a planning action or a preparation, on the part of of the course, about what needs to be observed and offered by the CHA to the students, such as scenarios and learning situations, among other issues. Based, then, on this vacuum of integration between teaching and service observed, it was thought as a product of intervention, the realization of awareness workshop between teaching and service managers of the TAU, including the CHA with the objective of presenting the results of the research and raising awareness about the importance of including Community Health Agents in the construction of actions to integrate teaching and service in the medical course. The workshop fulfilled the objectives presented and, in addition to raising awareness, the participation of the CHA in the collective construction of actions that required their participation was guaranteed. The study and the intervention product proved to be relevant to the awareness that it is necessary to make continuous collective pacts between teaching and service, so that the work process is more effective and able to respond to the various academic, administrative and community demands.
