Lesões maxilofaciais e cervicais em mulheres vítimas de agressão e feminicídio

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Violence against women is a huge challenge with significant impacts on society and is a consequence of this violence. OBJECTIVE: The present study analyzed the maxillofacial and cervical injuries that occurred most in female victims of aggression and femicide. METHODOLOGY: This is an integrative review with searches carried out in the LILACS and MEDLINE databases, using descriptors in Portuguese, Spanish and English, including studies published from 2018 to 2022 to the analysis of the results. It was observed that victims of aggression and feminicide in the age group between 16 and 64 years, who lived or live with the aggressors on a daily basis and who suffered physical aggression in the regions of the face and neck, causing trauma to soft, bone and dental tissues. CONCLUSION: Finally, the profile of victims of violence are women and are aged between 16 and 64 years, the most affected anatomical region was the middle third followed by the lower and upper third. The most prevalent types of injury were bruises and ecchymosis, caused by the aggressor's own body, such as the hands. The occurrence of previous aggressions is a strong indication that the woman may become a victim of femicide in the future, thus, this study can contribute to the elaboration of public policies based on evidence.
