Abstract: | The Cellulases are a complex of enzymes necessary for the complete solubilization of cellulose in sugars, thus playing a key role in the natural carbon cycle through the hydrolysis of lignocellulosic structures. In addition to their applications in the pharmaceutical industry, cellulases are also used in the textile industry, in animal and human food; in the pulp industry; as well as in the production of ethanol. However, the cost of enzyme preparation is a major impediment to its commercialization and use in different industrial processes. Among the filamentous fungi, those of the Trichoderma genus stand out for their high enzyme production. In view of the proposal, the objective was to evaluate and select Trichoderma isolates capable of producing cellulases. Thus, from sugarcane straw samples, 25 Trichoderma spp. The first evaluation step consisted of observing the growth of the isolates from the degradation of the crystalline microcellulosic substrate, Avicel. and the Congo red test was summarized in the determination of the hydrolysis halo and the measurement of the enzymatic index (halo hydrolysis diameter, colony-1 halo diameter) of each isolate. Afterwards, the isolates were evaluated for the production of Avicellase (exocellulase) and Carboximentylcellulase (endocellulase). CMCase activity ranged from 0.499 to 3.787 UI.mL-1. Isolates 24 and 25 showed higher activity (3.360 and 3.787 UI.mL-1 respectively), differing statistically from the others, according to the Scott-Knott test (p < 0.05). In the results for activity for avicelase, it was observed that five isolates 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16 detached from the others reaching 2.466, 2.238, 2.434, 2.265, 2.519 Ul.ml-1. .
