O sentido atribuído ao trabalho pelo agricultor rural familiar em Alagoas

Abstract

The word work and discussions on the subject have been debated for centuries. This occurs mainly in the current context due to social, political, cultural, economic changes, technological development and new work organizations. However, when looking at the rural space, more precisely for family rural agriculture in Brazil, it is observed that there were no uniform and significant changes related to the organization of work. However, it is necessary to recognize that the process of modernization and technological advancement in the field, even if partially, has been causing changes in the activity and in the working relationships in the rural environment, thus, it may have altered the perception of the meaning of the work for the family rural farmer. In view of this, the question that arises between the problem and the field of investigation is: "What are the meanings attributed to work by the family rural farmer in Alagoas?". To answer the proposed question, a qualitative research was carried out, where the data were collected through the application of a semistructured interview and simple observation. The research participants are 6 rural farmers. The main contributions of this research are: to describe what work is for the rural family farmer, especially in the context of Alagoas, to identify the factors that influence the construction of the sense of work for the rural family farmer, to describe how the work is organized. The first objective being analyzed based on the six characteristics of the meaning of work presented by Morin (2001), as well as on the characteristics of the organizational, social and individual dimensions. The second was analyzed from the organizational, social and individual dimensions. The third objective was analyzed based on the characteristics of the Flexible Organization Model developed by Kovács (1993). The results of the study showed that workers deeply bring their subjective representations, projecting their own history in their work activities, as well as the determining importance of family participation and the meaning of the workplace for the family farmer and rural farmer.
