Concordância verbal com pronome nós na zona rural de Pariconha - AL

Abstract

In this work, we mapped the sociolinguistic profile of speakers from the rural area of the municipality of Pariconha in relation to verbal agreement with the first person of the plural, which can be performed with the first person of the plural (hereinafter, 1PP) or with a third person of the singular (hereinafter, 3PS). Our objective is to analyze if there is a variation of this phenomenon in the speech of pariconhences, verifying, which linguistic and extralinguistic conditioners interfere in this process of variation. To achieve the proposed objectives, we conducted an empirical study, based on the theoretical-methodological assumptions of the Theory of Variation and Linguistic Change (LABOV, 2008), which conceives language as a heterogeneous and inherently variable system, which can be observed, described and analyzed in their social context, in real use situations. Carefully following the methodology of Labovian sociolinguistics, we delimited our dependent variable and the following independent variables: subject's explicitness, phonic salience, accentuation of the verbal form, linguistic parallelism, verbal time, age range, education and sex / gender. For the constitution of our corpus, we collected a speech sample from45 informants in the rural area of Pariconha, stratified according to the variables sex / gender, age group and education, in which we analyzed and coded all verbal agreement achievements with the pronoun nos. For the statistical analysis of the data, we used the computer program GoldVarb X (SANKOFF; TAGLIAMONTE; SMITH, 2005). As a result of this study, we obtained 263 occurrences of verbal agreement with 1PP, which correspond to 51% of achievements of nodes + 1PP and 49% of nodes + 3PS, showing that in the community there is a fierce dispute between the variants, and that this variation is motivated mainly by the variables education, verbal tense, linguistic parallelism and phonic salience.
