Por uma educação antirracista: as práticas pedagógicas de gestores e professores em uma instituição de educação infantil no município de Messias-AL

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the existence or not of postulates in favor of an Antiracist Education in the Institution of Early Childhood Education Manoel Serapião Calheiros in the municipality of Messias. In this way, the choice for the research locus was due to the fact that it is the municipality in which the researcher performs her professional activities and, thus, wishing that the return of her study can take place in that scope, generating contributions in the sense of boosting the improvement of the practices developed there, was the first factor to elect the mentioned locus. It is also noteworthy that the number of children enrolled in the aforementioned institution of early childhood education was also one of the main elements for the choice, since the institution has approximately 250 children enrolled, in addition to being one of the first IEI of the municipal network of Messias, whose inauguration took place in 1984, thus having 38 years of service to the children of the aforementioned in the municipality. To carry out the study, the main theoretical references were Almeida (2018), Apple (1982), Arroyo (2013) Carneiro (2011), Cavalleiro (2001, 2003), Davis (1944), Fanon (1968), Freire (1979), Gomes (2010, 2012, 2017, 2019, 2021), Hooks (2013), Nascimento (1989), Palmeira (2018), extracting their main contributions to, only then, advance in the analysis of what is available in the normative documents in force about Anti-Racist Education. The methodology used was based on the qualitative research approach (GODOY, 1995), more specifically configured in a case study, since, through field research, data can be collected and analyzed with greater density. For the analysis of the data found, Bardin (2016) Content Analysis was used, choosing as categories Antiracist Education, Curriculum and Anti-racist practices. In the final considerations, there is an analysis of what was collected by the research participants, inferring that the existing racism in educational environments is still latent, making it urgent and necessary to implement Anti-Racist Education.
