Contribuições da modelagem matemática em concursos de beleza: uma experiência didática com estudantes do 9º ano do ensino fundamental

Abstract

Given the need for teaching and learning methods in the sphere of Mathematics Education, which are more attractive and aim to encourage students to seek mathematical knowledge and apply them in their social context, the present work, which has as general objective to carry out a practice pedagogical based on Mathematical Modeling in the conception of the authors Biembengut and Hein, uses beauty contests in the school environment as a generator theme, thus relating the contents taught in the classroom with the students' sociocultural factors. As methodological tools were used: bibliographic research in primary and secondary sources; and collecting data and information. The locus of the research, characterized as qualitative, consists of 9th grade classes of Elementary School II at Colégio Municipal Cônego Tôrres, which is located in the municipality of Serra Talhada, Pernambuco. With the entire procedure taking place virtually, the students were responsible for the production and execution of the Miss Student of their school and in various circumstances were able to verify and use mathematical knowledge to solve the problem situations in the course of the proposed and necessary activities for the operation and consummation of the contest. Finally, an online knowledge sample was carried out with exchange of experience and validation of the mathematical models used throughout the process.
