Abstract

The present work deals with the participation of the peasants of Água Branca - AL in the National School Feeding Program: between advances and contradictions. It is important to understand the theme in the municipality and to understand this participation of the local peasants in the school feeding of students of the municipal network. The research allows a better understanding of the history of peasants and their daily struggles, thus, the methodology used was the case study, with the application of questionnaires generating qualitative and quantitative data. The objective of the research was to analyze the participation of the peasantry of Água Branca in the School Feeding Program, identifying their advances and contradictions. The application of this research obtained significant results for the study, the advance of the peasants corresponds to the opportunity to provide quality food for school lunch in the municipality, the contradictions imply in the bureaucracies admitted by the bidding process to participate in the program, lack of incentive and support technical difficulties of the State and the difficulties of planting and harvesting due to the edaphoclimatic contradictions of the region, threats suffered to the territory and the indebtedness of the peasants.
